HAMPTONS RETREAT
Water Mill, New York
Former clients discovered a beautiful and unusually large piece of property in the summer colony of Water Mill and wished to build a home on it. Already owning a large house in Westchester and at the time living mostly abroad, they asked for a house where the size would be manageable and not compete with the site.
The rooms however needed to flow with the graciousness of a home used for frequent summertime entertaining. The result was a compact shingle manor that sits perfectly on the land as a jewel in the hollow of a hand. Interior decoration by Nikki Atkinson of London.
